3 reasons why Python has an edge over JavaScript

  • Much more user friendly and easy syntax: by far the largest reason for the growth of Python
  • Support for extensive libraries in new techniques like machine learning
  • Active and growing community

Things are still a gap:

  • Mobile development
  • Python is still relatively less efficient than JavaScript

Other interesting facts:

Python overtook Javascript as the most popular language in terms of Stackoverflow questions in mid-2018.

According to an interesting study using the Github API, Javascript still has the most number of repos (almost double). But it would be interesting to see how it changes over time.
